In the Future?

Apr 14, 2007 11:08 AM by Discussion: Windows Vista
Will there come a time when WindowBlinds and IconPackager will be able to take on the changing icon in the start menu? In addition, will Icon Packager be able to eventually show folder contents? Or is this something that's never gonna happen? Just wondering, as these features are way cool.

First off, no one's prompted me to say this, but Paul's Apogee Icons are a must have. This is the third set I've bought of his, and it is leaps and bounds above the other two sets. If you don't have them, get them! They're outstanding and beautiful. Well done, Paul!

Wondering if I posted my "Objects in Sliders" in the right forum section, seeing how there's no reply as yet...

Anyway, there used to be a theme folder with one's name in the dx themes folder (the theme one was using at the moment), which is no longer present. One way I learned about skinning dx was to access this folder, which also allowed me to tweak certain aspects of a theme I downloaded. Case in point - I'd like to change the green in the connection meter to orange so it fits my color scheme; by accessing that folder in dx themes, It gave me the bitmaps, pngs, etc. so I could accomplish this. So what happened? Why's this folder gone?

Going slightly back to DX themes like HE, there were sliders which had the ability to act as containers for shortcuts, scripts, layers, etc. Either this ability is no longer viable or I'm just not getting it. Upon loading themes like HE, I've opted to not load what has prompted as "better not load" and the sliders are no longer functional. It appears to me that the only thing I can do is to have a sider popup controlling a menu outside of the slider. Any suggestions?

Just A thought, but it would be nice to see a holidays section per skin category, something I haven't seen on other sites as well... As I said, just a thought.

OK - What happened to the dragonfly cursor theme? I contracted a nasty virus, ended up wiping my hard drive clean and starting all over (ugh!). This was, in my opinion, the most creative animation for a cursor that I've seen and alas, it's no longer in the library. Aside from wondering why, does anyone know where I can get ahold of it?

Anyone who has greatly desired to play with the latest Longhorn build does play with it. For me, it's just too early in it's development and very limited, but I must admit that the sidebar is way cool. I have a penchant for pixels and a simple English degree, and the programer's language is worse than Old English to me, I don't have a clue. I've been looking foreward to Longhorn's final release, but I've gleaned enough of Frogboy's Old English to now have a feeling of foreboding, as having my OS the way I want it is exactly what I want and I consider such esthetics very important. A good example is all of the DesktopX stuff - I haven't seen a theme which completely fits my needs, so I end up revamping it to what works best for just me. It seems flexibility is going to take a major dive for dupes like me. I feel like it's paramount to letting the wolves in the door...

Just a thought, but I'd be interested in getting an idea of the ratio of skinners ( 0, 1-20 skins, 20-40, etc.), who visit winCustomize.
